• Abilities: Nico is a gifted surgeon, has the ability to keep a cool head in highly stressful situations, can think quickly on his feet.
• Strengths: Confidence- When Nico Kim enters a room, he commands it. He draws the attention of most of the people in it because confidence oozes from his pores. It can be intimidating to some, but it serves Nico well. He tends to calm people down in a room when he is in it.
Ability to remain cool under pressure- Nico has a detached focus when it comes to his patients and most crisis situations. The people around him tend to freak out and freeze, but Nico is able to push things aside and get the job done. This sometimes causes to miss the little things in a given situation, but for the most part, it is a strength that is useful and needed.

Nico deals in facts, not fantasies. He is a realist in every sense of the word. He knows that people like to romanticize just about everything, but Nico really wants none of that. Nico has dealt with a lot in his life and he prefers to deal with things that he can see and fix, then dealing with a bunch of what-ifs or maybes.

• Weaknesses:
Impulsive- Nico has a bad habit of acting before he thinks. The best canon example of this is when Nico decided to brave a windstorm in order to get back to the hospital. He ignored Levi's attempts to warn him that it would be dangerous and he could get hurt, instead believing he was right and would be okay, went outside anyway, getting blown across the ambulance bay, and getting knocked unconscious. His impulsivity almost got him killed if it hadn't been for Levi's quick thinking and actions, he would have died

Lacks bedside manner/interpersonal relationships- Nico is a clinical doctor, he looks at the facts presented to him, and he makes a judgment call based on what he sees, not taking into account the patient or the situation. Nico likes living his life this way, but such stoicism bleeds into his interpersonal relationships as well. He has trouble connecting with people on any level and genuinely doesn't see the need for empathy. This puts him in conflict with his fellow doctors and the people he works with and deals with on a daily basis.

Judgemental/assuming- Nico is a judgemental man, often jumping to conclusions without finding out the reasons behind the actions in certain situations. A key example is making judgments about Levi Schmidt, a man that he is obviously interested in, without even listening to Levi explain. Nico kissed Levi and when he found out it was the first time that Levi had kissed a man, automatically assumed that Levi would want him to be "some sort of gay sherpa," when Levi gave no indication of wanting any such thing. Instead of listening, he walked away and didn't look back. Nico tends to make assumptions about his patients based on what he sees, instead of taking the time to get to know what makes them tick.

• Nightmares: Nico made mention that his coming out was difficult and he had no desire to do it again. One of Nico's biggest nightmares is coming out to the people that he respects and being ridiculed and judged for it. The irony is real because Nico is a judgmental man.
